This is the diary of a girl whose journal was found in the weeds, she had just one very moving entry.
Dear Diary,
This is so exciting! I'm a little frightened but Mother says everything will be ok. The Plebeians (me and everyone else here) are rebelling against the Patricians! For several days we have been up on this hilltop and now the sun is setting and the stars are coming out as I write in my journal as Father tells little John a story. Father talked to me earlier. He said that without the Plebeians Rome will fall and crumble as quickly as quicly as a hummingbird flaps its wings. If other places were to attack Rome in its current state, Father said that without us Plebeians there would be no army to defend Rome! I'm not exactly sure how big this hill is, where we are, but it must be as big as the Underworld to hold all of these people! After all, the Plebeians made up 95% of the population. Anyway, Father mentioned some kind of Conflict of Orders, but I didn't understand much of what he'd said. He got off on a rant of how we should have equal rights with the Patricians and be represented in the government. The Patricians say we hsve an education but he's wrong! Mother teaches me how to cook and Father teaches me about the stars. Boy, the stars sure look beautiful tonight, away from the lights of the city. Well, I should be going to sleep now. Goodnight!
